With a postgraduate Master’s in Private Law, and as a specialist in labor law, Dominique de la Garanderie, is a pioneer in employment and labor law, and has been devoted to such issues since entering into practice as a lawyer in 1968. After creating her law firm, she joined with partners to form Veil Jourde La Garanderie.

La Garanderie Avocats, created in 2006, is devoted exclusively to employment and labor law, social security law and life risks insurance matters.

As the first woman elected to serve as President of the Paris Bar Association (with a term of office running from 1999 through 2000), Dominique de la Garanderie used her tenure to focus on law and economics, access to legal representation, professional codes of ethics for lawyers, and professional secrecy.

Working at the French National Council of Bar Associations, she was a board member then President of the International Commission, representing the French legal profession at the consultative committee of what is now the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe.
 
Giving careful consideration to new developments and outlooks on labor law, she was very committed to promoting SER, Corporate Governance, Ethics and Compliance issues, while also focusing on social factors affecting businesses and their impact as viewed through a labor law lens.
Dominique de la Garanderie has developed a unique expertise that draws on a broad range of experience, enabling her to give legal advice and defend complex or innovative cases.

Within the firm, Dominique de la Garanderie heads the "Ethics & Compliance" department and participates in the meetings and actions of the "Human Rights & Freedoms" and "Compensation & Benefits" departments.
 
As president of the ethics committee for the Le Monde group since 2018, she also participates in the ethics committee for the mutual fund Fonds porteurs d’espérance (an ethical fund).

Dominique de la Garanderie is a member of the "Security Ethics" board of the Défenseur des Droits (Defender of Rights), the authority vested with the mission of, among other things, ensuring that the rules of professional conduct are followed by security officials, in the context of that institution’s broader areas of activity.

She serves on the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights.

Dominique is a member of the governance committee of the employers’ association MEDEF, after having served on the AFEP-MEDEF (HCGE) Corporate Governance High Committee and on the Ethics Committee charged, at the time, to modify Medef’s code of governance.

President and founder of number of associations including the French Association of Women Lawyers, Dominique de La Garanderie currently heads the l'Institut Français des Avocats Enquêteurs de Confiance (IAEC), the French Institute of Lawyers Investigating into Trust Levels.

Dominique de la Garanderie has taught employment and labor law courses at the University of Paris X, and at Paris I, as well as at ESCP Business School, and at various training establishments. She was the Dean of the Economics Department at the French National School for the Judiciary, Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature.

She takes part in numerous conferences and seminars and has published articles and joint publications covering her various areas of expertise.
